Let’s Learn About Tap Dancing
"Rhythm in Motion" is part of UMS Performance Playground series, created for students in grades 3-8. It introduces tap dance as rhythm, history, and a living cultural language.
Making sure young people have access to fine and performing arts remains a huge part of our mission.
Being able to contribute in this way supports the next generation's understanding of where tap dance and Black vernacular forms come from, and how powerful they truly are.
If you're an educator, parent, or someone working with young people, we would love for you to explore and share this resource.
And if you've ever experienced rhythm as something that connects you back to yourself, this is for you too!
Join tap dancer, choreographer, and UMS Artist in Residence Shanzell Page to explore the rhythm, history, and techniques of tap dancing.
